Pregnancy is a long ninth month period of constant changes in your body – after all, you are growing another person inside of you. It’s important to keep your body healthy in order to have the easiest pregnancy you could hope for. So heed these tips and standards in order to achieve your health goal and support the little one growing inside you.
See you doctor
This may seem like a no-brainer, but the importance makes it worth mentioning. See your doctor as early and as often as you see fit – because nothing is more important than both you and your baby’s health.
Watch what you eat
While you’re pregnant, you really only need to add about 300 calories to your diet. These calories should include fruits, vegetables, proteins, carbohydrates, and any other foods that will help you work toward a healthy, balanced diet.
Exercising regularly is great for your health, endurance, and making working off the baby weight afterwards a little easier. Even taking daily walks is great for you and will help ease pregnancy pains.
Cut out alcohol
There is no way to know for sure how much alcohol is safe during pregnancy, so it is best to just cut it out entirely. Even a glass of wine could do some unwanted harm to your baby-to-be.
Smoking is proven to be incredibly harmful to your baby, so be sure to quit before becoming pregnant. The negative side effects completely outweigh any benefits you could possibly come up with – if there even are any.
Cut back on caffeine
No matter how much you love your coffee, try to cut back to less than 200mg per day.
Get plenty of rest
Pregnancy is going to make you feel extremely fatigued, so listen to your body and slow down. Take any and all relaxation techniques and use them to take it easy, your body and mind will thank you!
Take a supplement
Supplements won’t substitute a balance diet, but they are a great addition of some added nutrition. Check to make sure the supplement contains Vitamin D and folic acid.
